Anniversary star map
The sky on the night it started
An anniversary star map is a picture of the real night sky — the actual stars and planets, in the positions they held — for one exact date, time and place. It is not a stock illustration of a starry sky. It is a measurement of your sky, taken from NASA JPL ephemeris data and drawn at print resolution.
Most couples choose the night they met, the night they got engaged, or the night they married. Others pick a first date, a first apartment, or a trip that changed things. The idea is the same each time: a moment that belongs to the two of you, and the sky that was overhead when it happened.
Choosing the date, time and place
The date is usually the easy part. The place matters more than people expect — the sky over a rooftop in Halifax is not the sky over a beach in Tofino, even at the same hour. Search a city, a landmark or a street address in the free preview and the local time zone is applied automatically, so the map matches the moment as it was actually experienced there.
Time is worth a thought too. An hour earlier or later shifts the constellations a little, and the Moon moves noticeably from one night to the next. If you know roughly when it happened, use it; if you don't, an evening time on the right date is a fine choice.
Preview it free, then choose a format
The preview needs no account and is free; it is watermarked, the file you buy isn't. When you're happy with the sky, there are two ways to take it:
- Digital download — $2 USD. A high-resolution PNG (up to 4096 px) plus a scalable SVG. Print it yourself at any size. Delivered instantly — nothing to wait for. - Framed print — $100 USD. 16 × 20 in (40.6 × 50.8 cm), printed at 300 dpi on matte art stock, framed and ready to hang. Made to order and shipped within Canada and the US. Includes the digital files.
Every map is generated in Canada, and the positions are checked against documented astronomical events — our reference test reproduces the Great Conjunction of 21 December 2020, when Jupiter and Saturn passed 6.1 arcminutes apart.
A gift that can't be bought twice
An anniversary gift works when it says this specific thing happened to us. A star map does that by being exact: change the place or the hour and the map changes with it. It also keeps its meaning on the wall years later.
Made to order and personalised, so all sales are final — please check your date, time and place before you pay. If we got it wrong, we'll fix it or refund you in full. See the refund policy.
