Star map gift
A gift made of one exact moment
A star map gift is a picture of the real night sky — the actual stars and planets, in the positions they held — for one date, time and place you choose. It is not a stock illustration of a starry night. It is computed from NASA JPL ephemeris data and drawn at print resolution, so the sky in the frame is a true measurement of that moment.
That specificity is what makes it a gift. A star map only exists because that night happened in that place, for that person. Change the date, the hour or the location and the map changes with it.
How to choose the moment
Most people start from the person, then work back to a date:
- A couple — the night they met, got engaged, or married.
- A new parent — the minute the baby arrived, over the hospital or city.
- Someone who's gone — a birthday, or a date that belonged to them.
- Anyone else — a first apartment, a graduation, a trip, a fresh start.
The place matters more than people expect: the sky over Halifax is not the sky over Tofino, even at the same hour. Search a city, a landmark or a street address in the free preview and the local time zone is applied automatically, so the map matches the moment as it was actually experienced there. Dates from 1900 to 2100 are supported, anywhere on Earth.
If you don't know the exact time, an evening time on the right date is a fine choice — try a couple of options in the preview and keep the sky you like best.

Why it's trustworthy
A star map is only a keepsake if it's true. Positions come from NASA JPL ephemeris data for your exact date, time and coordinates, and we check them against documented astronomical events. Our reference test reproduces the Great Conjunction of 21 December 2020 — Jupiter and Saturn 6.1 arcminutes apart, their closest approach since 1623.
Every map is generated in Canada. Made in Canada. Star positions from NASA JPL ephemerides.
Ordering
Every map is made to order and personalised, so all sales are final — please check your date, time and place before you pay. If we got it wrong, we'll fix it or refund you in full. See the refund policy.
